We recently finished reading an excellent book, ‘The Pastoral Office’ by Henry Edward Cardinal Manning. This is the best book we have read on the doctrine of the Office of the Bishop and its relationship to the Office of Pope. It is well written and addresses the heresies circulating today extremely well. It is Our intention to comment on this book in more detail in coming weeks. However, We recommend anyone wishing to understand these important doctrines order the book and study it. In fact, it is now required reading in the seminary, and all of the seminarians have a copy to study from.
