Vigil of Pentecost Fasting

“Mortification is the enemy of pleasure” says Fr. Aldophe Tanquerey. This is a good thing to meditate on on Saturday, which is the Vigil of Pentecost. Let us pray for the coming of the Holy Ghost as we observe the fast and complete abstinence. And let us not forget that next Wednesday, Friday and Saturday are Ember Days, which are also fast days. They have the added obligation of partial abstinence for all over seven, which is always complete abstinence from meat on Fridays.
